Commentary

  • Mr. George Brook was Dee’s cousin. See 25 June, 1595. The term statute-staple is not now in use. It is defined by Blackstone as a bond of record acknowledged before the mayor of the staple, by virtue of which the creditor may forthwith have execution against the body, lands, and goods of the debtor on non-payment. It is founded upon the statute 27 Edw. III., cap. 9.
